Richie welcomes mother-daughter duo Reyna & Elena Aburto to The Cultural Hall. Together they host a podcast, Consecrating Your Life. This is Elena’s second visit, and Reyna’s first. You can listen to Elena’s first interview, Episode 521.

Reyna Aburto (Mother) was born in Nicaragua. She converted to the Church at age 26. Her degree is in computer science. She and her husband Carlos own a translation company. They have three children and three grandchildren.

Elena Aburto (Daughter) was born in Utah. She served her mission in Modesto, California. Her bachelor’s degree is in music with a piano emphasis. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in secondary education with an emphasis in teaching choir.

The Aburto’s lives revolve around their Saint Bernard dog, Tule. Together they love to spend time with their family, watching TV, eating food, and singing karaoke.

In this discussion, we hear about Sister Reyna Aubrto’s time serving in the General Relief Society Presidency, what she’s doing with her time since being released, her experiences with vulnerability, and speaking out about her personal experiences with divorce and suicide. Mother and daughter share what they have learned from each other, as well as valuable insights into grace, the temple, following the spirit, and what it means to consecrate your life to the Savior. Stay tuned to the very end to hear Elena’s missionary farewell talk.
