    • 8 Stakes, 2 Districts (plus South Island) – not yet for Christchurch
    • Capital of New Zealand – Southernmost city on North Island
    • President Nelson visited and met with Jacinda Ardern in 2019
  • Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo
    • 1st in the Republic of Congo (not DRC – 3 temples there) (French colony vs Belgian colony – French spoken in both nations) – 20th in Africa
    • 4 Stakes
    • Temple Kinshasa DRC (just on other side of the river – nearly the same city)
    • Closet nation capital cities in the world, have to travel by ferry.
    • No bridge between the two cities (16 million pop – has been long proposed and delayed)
  • Barcelona, Spain
    • 3-4 Stakes, 1 district
    • 2nd temple in Spain (Madrid)
    • Separatist region of Catalonia

    • 3rd temple in England and UK (still none in Scotland, Ireland, or Wales)

  • Cusco, Peru
    • 5th Temple in Peru
    • 3 Stakes, 5 districts
    • Very old Pre-Spanish city in the Andes Mountains – near Machu Picchu, the most popular place to visit in Peru
  • Maceió, Brazil
    • 15th temple in Brazil
    • 9 Stakes
    • Northeast Brazil – Closest to Recife
  • Santos, Brazil
    • 16TH in Brazil
    • 5 stakes, 2 districts
    • You could say it’s the 4th São Paulo area Temple
    • Port city on Coast – last three temples in Brazil announced are port cities
  • San Luis Potosí, Mexico
    • 18th in Mexico
    • 6 stakes
    • The mission is headquartered in Aguascalientes – but the city is larger.
  • Mexico City Benemérito, Mexico
    • 2nd in Mexico City, 19th in Mexico
    • 14ish stakes
    • Benemérito (Distinguished) de las Americas– nickname of Benito Juarez (George Washington figure – first native president)
    • High school founded in 1964, closed in 2013 to be come a larger MTC campus.

      • Immediately after conference, gathered the missionaries, knelt on grass lead them in prayer of gratitude
      • The site is plenty large enough to build a temple one of the fields.
  • Tampa, Florida
    • 4th temple in Florida (not my first guess – closer to Orlando than Jacksonville)
    • 6-7 stakes
    • Lots of Church Farmland in Florida
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
    • 3rd temple in Tennessee
    • 5 Stakes
    • Church’s purchase of 5 acres off Kingston Pike in Farragut in October
  • Cleveland, Ohio
    • 2nd or 3rd? in Ohio – Kirtland and Columbus
    • Church Newsroom – Kirkland Temple (not to be confused with Washington or Costco)
    • Dispel notion that we have to buy it “back”
      • “The Church of the latter-day Saints” written on the building (in 1834)
      • 1860 – Court ordered to sell to settle Joseph smith debts
      • Decades of litigation, RLDS eventually got title from Squatters rights
      • Never belonged to the Brighamite Church – not “ours” to buy (although still could happen, but show more humility)
    • It would be a historical loss to convert the temple into a modern one (it had another purpose)
    • Will the temple be built in historic Kirtland? – Exterior replica like Nauvoo?

    • 7th temple in Texas (Fort Worth announced last time, one under construction in McAllen)
    • 8-9 Stakes
  • Missoula, Montana
    • 3rd temple in Montana
      • Helena Announced a year ago and is quickly being built
      • (Very small, so Missoula is probably needed)
    • 4 stakes
  • Montpelier, Idaho
    • 6 Stakes (Idaho, one in Wyoming) – near Bear Lake
    • Closest to Star Valley Wyoming temple
    • Ninth temple in Idaho
    • Church tabernacle (interesting round design)
      • Church has been buying up property across the street (former city hall)
    • My Ancestors settled near Paris (which also has a cool tabernacle – great potential architectural influences)
  • Modesto, California
    • 7 Stakes (Lodi to Merced)
    • Temples in Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno
    • 10th in California – President Nelson said more were coming just a month ago.
