“Businessman by day, father of four by night, and writer and scholar by late night, Martin juggles roles while living in the grassy, northern plains of the Lone Star state. He has written and spoken extensively on Heavenly Mother in academic settings, and co-authored the seminal BYU Studies’ article, “‘A Mother There’: A Survey of Historical Teachings about Mother in Heaven,” which informed the official Church’s gospel topics essay “Mother in Heaven.” Thereafter, Martin organized the A Mother Here: Art and Poetry Contest. Material generated from that contest, alongside historical research, formed the basis for the award-winning Dove Song: Heavenly Mother in Mormon Poetry, of which Martin was co-editor and contributor. Martin subsequently co-authored with McArthur Krishna A Boy’s Guide to Heavenly Mother, a companion book to A Girl’s Guide.”
