Ian grew up in the U.K. and converted to Mormonism in 1995, in his early 20s.
His Missionary is his best friend, to this day.
Ian has a background in performing arts and journalism and gave enjoyed success as an actor, director, singer and comedian before transitioning into journalism in print and on TV and radio in the U.K.
Ian is the 2021 Head Judge (Chair of the Board (of Judges)) for the U.S.Nationals of the Karaoke World Championship.

The three U.S. singers finished 8th (Coreen Beckman), 12th (Renee Turcotte) and 15th (Paul Mayer).
While no trophies are given out for team performance, this was the second best result when countries are ranked by the average result of three singers. Only Indonesia ranked higher as a team, speaking to the bench strength of the U.S. singers.
Excellent results against a very strong field.
