Note from the notes guy: This episode deals what may be a very sensitive topic for some, but it it handled with great sensitivity. It helps you to get a feeling of what happened that day and some of the realities of what the members of that congregation went through. If it were the 1970s, we would call this a “very special episode”. I have not tried to capture detail of this episode, as I don’t want to distract from the account that is given, so I am just given an overall outline.
Robbie Calvert is a friend of Richie’s brother, and was attending church in Fallon, Nevada, when a man was shot to death during Sacrament meeting. He used his skills as a doctor to try and help save the life of Bert Miller. They discuss how those who were attending church that day had to stay at the building as part of the investigation and what they did to help the children who were there. Instead of sponsors, Richie uses the break to thank those who enjoy The Cultural Hall. Following the break, Robbie updates us after the funeral of Bert Miller and after what their ward Sacrament meeting the week after this incident.
