After a discussion of how things were “back in my day”, including piercings, attitudes about LGBTQ, and the technological wonder that is the Walkman, they get to the current events of the day. Mr. Mayor teases and upcoming episode in which he will share a personal experience from his mission.

      • Walter F. Gonzales was announced to have been the presiding authority
      • Spoke about the founding of the Sanpete Stake Academy in 1888 that became Snow College (named after Erastus Snow & Lorenzo Snow)
      • Mother Born in Ephraim, (3 of four grandparents as well), father born in Manti
        • All 8 great grandparents lived in Ephraim. (From England, Norway, Denmark, Sweden) – “I don’t think they could even talk to each other.”
      • In 1985, he divided the Ephraim and Snow College Student Stakes
      • Kept asking if any relatives were there, he told the audience to do their family history and find out.

          • “The announcement for Ephraim had nothing to do specifically with the murals in the Manti temple,” Bishop Waddell said mentioning that the announcement of the Ephraim temple allows Manti to be preserved. “Ephraim first, Manti second; not Manti first, Ephraim second.”
        • President Nelson: “Shortly after the April 2021 General Conference, I received VERY CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS that the Manti Utah Temple should be preserved, and that a Temple should be built in Ephraim, Utah.”

                  • Authorities Suspect it was an Arson
                    • Security camera shows a figure leaving the scene at 11:09 on July 25th.
                  • AFT and Orem Police Department is offering a $5k reward for information that leads to an arrest.
                  • Foam was used to extinguish the fire, limited it to one room, but smoke damage caused thousands of dollars of damage throughout the building.

                      • Workers spend 8 hours a day digging out underneath the temple by hand in steel tubes moving six feet a day
                        • Pipes are filled with a rebar cag, cables, and grout and is tied to connections into the Walls and Roof of temple.
                        • Placed over Base Isolators that are able to shift in an earthquake and allow the temple to move in an earthquake.
