I’ve been listening to my favorites…Nat King Cole and Bing holiday songs since Halloween!
If there were applications to work secret service for the fat man with the white beard and red suit…I will have found my calling.
And when you mess with the Season…you mess with me!
Let me explain.
It seems that everything good, wholesome, and pure in this world is not allowed to exist or go unchecked by those who’s souls are so dissatisfied with their own existence and so discontent in their own journey through life so as to allow others to get on without ridiculing or mocking their joys.
I speak of the Season.
I’ve noticed post after post…some even from dear friends…with such blatant and unapologetic tones of judgement against and ridicule for the many unique traditions of Christmas the people of the world may hold to.
This is what I think of you…and I will not mince words.
You are sad. Knock it off!!! Don’t mess with Christmas!
I can think of few things less noble than to try to dissuade people from perpetuating the magic that is the Christmas season. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Santa, Elf of the Shelf, or any other family tradition intented to bring joy and wonder into the lives of children. Is there not enough “reality” in the world? Is there not enough pain and sorrow?
I get it…you don’t like the commercialized holiday season. Nobody does! That statement is getting old! You probably hate how “commercial” it is because the lines are so long while you’re standing in them at 5am on Black Friday. I guess…everyone else shouldn’t be so “commercial”.
Anyway…that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the naysayers who PRETEND to know what’s best for other people’s children. I’m talking about those so wise and holy that they don’t allow others their own holiday holiness…in any form.
I don’t know who writes these blogs or worse…who reads them and reposts…but if I love anything…it’s an all-knowing, all-powerful, condescending, negative blogger who has confused their thoughts with things anyone gives two craps about.
Some speak of “spoiled” children. Perhaps you are referring to your own. If experiencing magic during the holidays…smiling…laughing as they search for a hidden elf…or struggling to sleep as they listen for sleigh bells in the night amounts to the “spoiling” of my children…then they will be the most spoiled children on earth if I have anything to do with it.
If your kids see a scout elf who has toilet-papered the Christmas tree and they drop out of school and start to commit petty crimes including toilet-papering…I’m pretty sure that’s just poor parenting. I have never heard a criminal in court say “Santa made me do it!”
Are you guys SERIOUS?! Leave the magic alone!!!
Tell me Humbugger’s…what was missing in your own Christmas that you seek to ensure ours are equally miserable? This isn’t about other people enjoying their Christmas’ too much…this is about something very tragic missing in your own lives…and hearts.
No religious leader I profess to follow ever spoke out against celebrating Christmas with the help of St. Nick or his elves.
Not only do you seek to suppress the happiness our children are allowed to experience during the Season…but you dare try to rob me of the opportunity to give to my children in complete secrecy. Is that a lesson you’ve missed? Is that not something you should cherish? I get to work and sacrifice to see my children’s faces light up day after day during the Christmas season…and not take ANY of the credit. Can’t you see the value in that? It’s not just about children. The only thing better than being a child on Christmas…is to be a parent. Do you see the hypocrisy? You would praise a do-gooder for giving in secret to a stranger…but mock and bombard a parent for giving in secret to their own children…wow.
How dare you say one word about how somebody else should celebrate the season. How dare you try to diminish what, to many of us, is the most sacred time of the year…the happiest time of the year. How dare you spread your negativity and profess to know how best to celebrate Christ’s birth.
I’m here to validate all the people who LOVE Christmas!!! I’m here to cheer on the people who allow Elves into their homes. I’m here to perhaps encourage an introspective turn for those who hate that we love Christmas and hate that we celebrate it exactly like we want to. I love Christmas because it represents the world the way it should be…and not the way it is.
I’m here to try to keep people from joining the army of darkness against Santa’s army.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t respond about how “commercial” Christmas has become or I WILL MAKE FUN OF YOU! I’m not talking about that. It’s only as commercial as each family allows.
Now…I’ve got some gift-wrapping to do…for strangers…is that ok???
