Hello friends and family!
I’m loving being here with my new companion! We are working so hard! It’s a chore to eat! hahaha! Amazing things are happening with the ward members. They are really getting nicer to us as we strive to earn their trust.
One of the coolest stories ever happened this week. Sister C. and I were looking for a less-active girl named Emma T. So we pulled up to this house, and a girl with special needs (she might have had Down’s Syndrome) came running out of the house and grabbed me by the arm! She was sooo excited and kept yelling, “COME IN!!! COME IN GUYS!!! SIT DOWN!!!!!!!!” And we looked at the Dad who was there and he’s like, “uhhhhhh….sure….come in!” hahaha! I wish more people had children with special needs so we can get in some doors to teach them about the gospel! 🙂 🙂 They were the NICEST family ever!!!! and I guess Emma just used to live there, but doesn’t anymore! But now that family told us they want to have us over for dinner and teach them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just could NOT stop smiling! This little girl was the happiest girl ever and their whole family was so happy to have strangers in their home. It was one of my favorite days! 🙂
I’ve also discovered a new love for something: TRAILOR PARKS! I used to think they were really dingey places, but there have been so many people willing to listen to us there! And they’re actually kinda quant and cute. We met this lady there with a van with stickers across it that says, “JESUS IS LORD” around the whole van. She talked to us for 45 mins about wierd doctrine and “Shook the dust off her feet” at us. But we still invited her to church and SHE CAME WITH HER HUSBAND YESTERDAY!!!!!! Our jaws could not stay shut during the first meeting we were so shocked! 🙂 So we’ll see if she is still interested… 🙂
We went to another less-active home and it was probablly the most poor home I’ve ever been in. I felt so bad for this family! But they listened to us and I know that the presence of the Holy Ghost can be present in the most hostile of environments if you read from the Book of Mormon. 🙂 They had 3 dogs and there were 2 piles of throw-up when we came in. While we were teaching…the dog actually ate it! Haha I’ll never forget watching that….AND my companion gagging….. 😛
A Little thought I learned from a sweet less-active during our lesson. “Prayer is like a seat belt. It protects you from harm, but as soon as you stop wearing it….you feel a little strange! The longer you ignore that strange feeling, it just starts to feel normal and you forget your are not wearing it.” 2 Nephi 32:9 is such a cool scripture because it tells us that if we ever don’t want to pray, it is the devil trying to get us to “take off your seat belt” because he doesn’t want us to be happy and protected… My comp. and I taught Sunday School yesterday about Pondering and how we need to do it more!! So Ponder during prayer, sacrament, and at night when you write what you’re grateful for! 🙂 It’ll stengthen your faith and help you gain insights only the Holy Ghost can help you gain! 🙂
Our car bumper fell off this week, and we took it in to get it repaired to Meinike, and they fixed it for free! 🙂 And As you can see, lots of amazing things are happening to us!! We just really need to find people who are ready to be baptised, but I KNOW obedience is gonna help us get that. 🙂 So thank you so much for your prayers, letters, emails, and thoughts! If you want an awesome Chapter that talks about how great God is, Read 2 Nephi 9! It’s a good balance between the atonement, justice, and mercy. 🙂
Much Loves, Hugs, “Boo’s”, Scares, Tricks and Treats!!!
Sister Tobias 🙂
