Hello Happy Creatures of the Lord!
This week was transfer week!! yaaay! We were really excited because an Elder in our car share who wasn’t the…happiest/nicest camper….got transfered! Teehee And a new fun Elder is in his place…SWEET! Sis. N. and I got to travel to Iowa for an exchange and it was my fave exchange because of the funky people I met and taught! We prayed that we could find 2 people in a half an hour, and it totally worked!!! The people in that area were a ton more receptive than those in Peoria! haha we knocked on this Catholic guys’ door, and he had the HUGEST smile and was laughing and nice, but politely turned us down. Then he told us to go to his neighbor’s house, and they let us teach them Family Home Evening! Hehe so it was SUPER unusual, but made us really positive that the Lord could hear our request!
Remember how I used to work at Home Depot and I love to build houses and stuff?? Well, this week I got to help a part member family BUILD their house! Haha like, put electrical outlets, switches, smoke detectors, and sand walls with cool hand tools!! The man’s name is Jerry and he’s super hillarious, but intimidating. He supposedly doesn’t really like the sister missionaries, but he really likes me and my comp! Probablly because we laugh at his jokes and don’t judge him. He was smoking right in my face when he was teaching me, but it was worth it if it softens his heart! He said he’ll come to church if he has a cookie and chocolate milk within three feet of the door…
And here’s a miracle…after I installed an outlet, he touched the outlet, and it was HOT!!! He said, “You are so lucky you didn’t touch the wires together…you could’ve died!” hahaa! I’m sure there are some angels helpin me with that!
THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY MISSION….RIGHT HERE:
Oh what a beautiful Sunday yesterday!!!! Diana J. brought her two kids AND husband, Steve, to the church for a super spiritual intro/church tour!!!!! We asked the family what they thought after “The Restoration” video and Nolan said…”I’m Convinced!!!” hehehe I love him. Diana said she wanted to be baptised on Sept. 29th….but that is a very hesitant date because her husband is really questioning about her decision. :S SO YAY!! PLEASE PRAY FOR HER!! WE are meeting with her tomorrow and hope all goes well.
Then we told their family we’d go to their Catholic Mass with them since they came with us to ours! They had a rock band! heehee. She kept whispering to us, “I don’t like how they do that…” “Do you do this at your Church?” And then she said, “I’m gonna have to come to your church next week!” WAAAAAAHOOOOO!!!
If you don’t know what a church tour is:
We did the typical church tour where you take them into the chapel and explain how sacred sacrament is! Then we take them to the back of the chapel and show them a picture of Adam and explain a teeny bit of how the Fall seperated us physically from God, but how Adam could still receive revelation to lead and guide his children. Eventually his children stopped listening to Him, and we fell into an apostasy. Then we turned the lights off. We then explain how the world is in darkness until a new prophet is called. Because God loves his Children so much, he wants to give us light and direction to lead us in the right direction. So then we turn on a flashlight and show them pictures of all the prophets from the Old Testament, ex. Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. In between the pictures, we explain that they are all little apostacies. After we ended with Moses, we ask them, “Do you see a pattern? What do you think God will do next to lead the world out of this darkness?” And Nolan said, “Um.. Call another Prophet? Jesus?” “Yeaaah! That’s right!! So we led them down the hall into the BRIGHT Relief Society room with pictures of Christ everywhere and Mormon Tabernacle Choir playing! The spirit was so strong at this part!! We then read Ephesians 2:19-20 and explained that part of Christ’s ministry was setting up the Apsotleship with the power of the Preisthood. We set up all of the 12 names of the old apostles (Peter, James, John, Judas, etc) and explained that after Christ was Crucified and Judas Escarriot killed himself, the apostles gathered, prayed, and asked God who the new apostle should be to replace Judas. After receiving revelation, Matthias was called as a new apostle! However, the apostles were getting persecuted and spread apart faster than they could replace new apostles…..THIS WAS CALLED THE GREAT APOSTASY!! Then we turned off the lights again and showed them the movie of “The Restoration!” Again, the spirit was undeniable!!! Long Story Short, the list of the Apostles names at the time of Jesus turned into pictures of our modern-day apostles and President Monson!! :0]
THEN we were at a dinner with one of my fave members, The S.s, and the husband was telling us about his conversion story. His grandma’s family started the Peoria ward and their name was the Millers. They were the only family that came to church for several years in Peoria and they traveled really far to get there. But an Apostle promised that as long as she dragged her 8 kids to church with her, this ward would prosper! And GUESS WHO BAPTISED HER??!!!!! ELDER FLAKE!!!! hahaha He started telling us that his relative founded Snowflake, Arizona and I about choked on my food!! They were really excited about me being related to that bloodline and He’s going to look into what the elder’s first name was to I can see if we are related… but we all got chills!!
Quiet frequently we run into people who let us teach them one lesson, and then when after we teach them…they kinda tear us apart. This week we taught a baptist preacher and then said a prayer over us that we would stop leading people astray and preaching false doctrines. Technically that should get me down…But I just love it…it’s such a unique oppurtunity to have that done to you! Teehee ;P
Anyways… As you can see all kinds of wonderful things are happening here! I hope you all enjoy your first week of school. I AM ENJOYING my first week of NO SCHOOL!! hahaha for the first time of my life!!
Love you all! Remember you are never bugging God when you ask Him for things if you need them! He wants to give you things to bless other people’s lives. Please don’t hesitate to pray…It’s the devil telling you not to because he’s one heck of a jealous guy! (See 2 Nephi 32:8-9…one of my favesies!)
Loves,
Sista Tee!
