How can you possibly be a Mormon and a Democrat? Is it possible?

Author C. Joe Andersen joins us in The Cultural Hall for a very spirited conversation about his upcoming book. He brought us a gift for allowing him into the hall.

Does this mean we are wise men and women?

Agreed. Actually I have enjoyed all dssiuiscons during the session very much. The above just the interesting tips for networking that I think they are useful for Vietnam professional and business women as well as some of our friends.

I like that he talked about reducing abortions – its like prohibition of alcohol- even if you make it illegal it will still happen. I’d rather they didn’t happen at all, but there’s no way to enforce it. I agree we shouldn’t spend tax dollars to support abortions, but I believe a woman should have the right to choose, just as much as a man in the military has the right to pull the trigger or not. God gave us agency. Satan wants to take our agency away.

Both types of murder will suffer consequences, but who am I to judge what that individual should or shouldn’t do for themselves under their circumstances at that time.

The unborn are innocent, sure, but what makes those killed in war guilty? Death isn’t a terrible thing, its a gateway to new life – those unborn children live again and they are innocent. The men killed in action may have had the time of repentance taken from them and may be condemned because they were killed ‘early.’

Life is precious in all circumstances. As a society, are WE accountable for every death that we don’t appose – abortion, war, death penalty? Or are only those who make the choice accountable? The mother, the gunner, the man who turns the chair on? I don’t know.

No matter how much any one knows its not what God wants and He wants us to be happy and make life loving choices, I just don’t think the government can effectively be involved in preventing sin. It’s like trying to prevent people from being greedy, prideful, lavish, lying or fornicating – how do you enforce those? You can’t. Only God can.

I think government can be effective at regulating public affairs, not private ones. God’s law exists whether our laws match them or not, and aren’t God’s laws enough for God fearing people. Not everyone is a God fearing person – we have freedom of religion in this country.

I’m glad he mentioned that pollution prevention and preserving habitats makes sense. I really think the environment should not be a party aligned issue.

I can appreciate your guest’s attempt to calm Republicans and help them to understand Democratic ideas. We are not socialists or communists or radicals, we just think differently.
