Brothers and Sisters, Alo-ha!

Let’s try that again: ALO-HA!

That’s better. When Richie asked me to introduce myself to you, I thought, “Boy oh boy, he doesn’t know what he’s in for!” Ha. Haha.

I’m Molly Mormon. I’ve been in your stake for quite some time, but only just joined your ward. Most of you are probably more familiar with my husband because he’s in the stake presidency. A little about our family: we love living on our quiet street in Utah, my husband and I and our six children. He works, I stay at home – it’s just how we do things, and we love it that way. We both grew up outside of Utah and now choose to live here, and choose to love to live here. I drive a minivan. OF COURSE I DO.

You might find, however, that I don’t fit the mold of who you think I am. I don’t really like attending church meetings. I take issue with many cultural aspects of our religion. On occasion, I even (gasp!) vote for Democrats. There are more substantial illustrations to who I am than what I’ve just mentioned, but we’ve got time to talk about those things as we get to know each other.

What I’m passionate about is discussing our differences, and also our similarities. One of the great things about our religion is the diversity of its people. I’m a strong believer that the expectations to fit into any mold should be tossed out the window, though I also believe that those who choose to fill those molds should be welcomed to do so comfortably without our judgment that they are simply blindly following outdated traditions.

I’m afraid I’m getting ahead of myself. What I intend to say is this: I’m grateful to be in this ward, and I hope that my new calling as Podcast Blogger will be a blessing in your life as much as it will be in mine.

Until we blog again,
Molly
