It has a striking similarity to the LDS temple in Bern, Switzerland.
Where it’s intentional or not, I don’t know…
It looks a lot like the Bern, Switzerland temple to my eyes. http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/bern/
WOODKID, aka Yoann Lemoine, is French, so that would have been one of the closest LDS temples to him for most of his life?
Definitely the Swiss temple. Cool facts about the temple: it was the first overseas temple built by the church. The angel Moroni wasn’t added until less than a decade ago, so the image is accurate without Moroni on top. Yes, he is French and so this temple would be closest to him (for only a little bit longer– shout out to the soon to be Paris Temple!) The reason for the temple in this video: The church is true. I know it, and woodkid knows it too.
or, the church is false, tomayto tomahto
The video Iron is part of a story, the second song called Run Boy Run, discusses fleeing the influence of organized religion/dogma to be accepted. Many sites have referenced the generally homophobic perceptions of the church.
My guess, one of the band members or a friend felt very little support within the church while struggling with their identity having a same gender attraction.
The song was used in the Assassin’s Creed Revelation trailer. Not relevant but QI
The church is not homophobic. This word means fear or hate of homosexuals. The church’s “perception”, as you put it, is –
– sex outside of marriage is counter to the plan of salvation. This applies equally to gays and heteros.
– Marriage is a covenant between a man, a woman and God the Father, sanctioning the use of the gift of procreation to raise a family.
– we should love all our brothers and sisters – ie Everybody – regardless of their choices in life.
– everyone has the right to freedom of choice.
Unfortunately, there are people in the church with a less than perfect understanding. Just like in any organisation.
I know people with “same gender attraction”, who have refused to live a “gay” lifestyle because they wanted the blessings of the gospel more.
I also know people who have left the church rather than try to live a double life.
I have a brother in law, brought up in the church, who is gay and in a civil partnership. Most of us in the family respect his choice and get on with being a family. Some, unfortunately, haven’t come to terms with it. That’s their problem, not the church’s.

– having pointed that out, I think it’s a great track, and a terrific video! :o)
